What is a great telemarketer?

A great telemarketer is one who never gives up.
IF the script is not working, the telemarketer knows how to modify it to get better telemarketing resutls.

If everyone is not interested that day...the great telemarketer dials even faster..to make up for the lack of interest/results.  It is a numbers game and the telemarketer is the one who can play the odds in his/her favor by dialing fast.

A great telemarketer knows when to step away from the phones if he/she is having a bad day with telemarketing.  A quick break can turn around a bad telemarketing day.

The telemarketer who is great..never finds fault in the client...but will sit and think what the telemarketer can do better.  Was I in a hurry/too pushy/did I sound like a typical telemarketer that day/was I rambling instead of straight forward/Did I get to
feeling grouchy when things did not work out my way on the phones with the telemarketing that day?

When a GREAT telemarketer is done with the calling for that day...he/she will assess what he/she can do better to get better results the next day.

Today...I had to get serious with a client.
Been doing calling for her for years...and all of a sudden...she is not providing me with the tools to get the job done.

Why is it that some clients are NOT as serious about building their business as I am?

I get calls from past clients who want to re-start their calling.
This is quite a nice thing.
I totally understand the need to call when you just have the need and money.

I get alot of calls from potential clients..all over the US.
When they call me to interview me and for I to interview them....I want to answer ALL of their questions..the more, the better that the telemarketing can go!

I even can come up with ways to make the telemarketing go better.  I do this for free.

I enjoy every conversation that I have.  That is why I am still a telemarketer..I love being on the phones.

Hiring a telemarketer can be a very scary/risky venture.  You want to make sure you hire the BEST telemarketer/best lead generator/best appointment setter/best closer you can get.  That is the purpose for calling and talking directly with the telemarketer.

I became a telemarketer when my father said women should not be sales people.
I set out to prove him wrong back when I was in Junior High.
He would only allow me to sell via the phones.
I set appointments for his furniture store.
Soon all the business men who knew my Dad saw the difference I made with cold calling.

Today...I had a conversation with a potential client who expects 7 appointments per hour.  This is what I am referring to when I say "unrealistic" expectations.
I have set a record of 21 interested leads generated in just 2 hrs.  That was HOT
leads..where people went online and keyed in and asked for a call about some product or service they needed or wanted to buy.

The norm is more like 1-4 per hour. 

It is important that the telemarketer first and foremost..be honest!
When a telemarketer guarantees how many leads or appointments they can set in an hour...be aware.  No one can really guarantee.  It is always a gamble.  It depends on how many people answer the phone when the telemarketer calls/disconnects/hang ups/no interest/call back later/do not call, etc.

IF you outsource your telemarketing to an individual in the US to do your B2B calling or to telemarket to homes...you want someone who is honest about what they can accomplish.  You want to partner with someone who knows how they will do.
The last thing you want is to sign up with someone and pay for telemarketing and get part of what you bargained for...that is lost telemarketing time!

Today I had a conversation with someone I have recently done telemarketing for.
In 3 days...I found someone who decided to give him a big order..just the first order.
The client was going to switch calling efforts.
This happens alot..when clients don't understand ALL that it takes to get new customers /get more business from them etc.

When all that is being done to get new customers..is just telemarketing...it is unrealistic pressure on the business and unfair to the telemarketer.

I don't know if many really understand HOW hard it is to call and find a new customer.
Then...their job is to call/get an order/make them happy with the first order and get more business.

I can find new potential clients usually at the rate of 1-3 per hr.
But the rest is up to the client.

It is like the person who puts the for sale sign in a yard.
They put a sign out to gather interest.
BUT if the people don't go look at the house..or forget their appointment or don't like the house or the financing falls thru..it is not the telemarketer's fault.

IF you hire me or any other telemarketer..just think about realistic goals and ALL you can do to make the telemarketing integrated into your business.

Just heard from a potential client today.  Will call her Vicki.  We talked about closing the sale of leads given to her by the telemarketer.  We talked about telemarketing to get the best results and how she can close more leads. 

She really understood that telemarketing is PART of the process to build a business.

When a company thinks that the telemarketer is the "Be All and End All" they are headed no where.  As much as I represent and respect the telemarketing field, I know
that there is MUCH more that a company needs to do in today's savvy market ...to succeed and grow your client base.

It starts with excellent telemarketing training, then picking the best telemarketer for your program, making sure those whom the leads are given to can close..and work the leads until they do close.

Your company needs to re-think what it takes to grow during a recession.
This is a new breed of consumers.
They are educated and cautious and in this information age..that is exactly what they want.

Why do I ask for potential clients to call me?

I want to hear them articulate what they have to promote.  I want to know if their
expectations are thought out and realistic.  I want to get a sense if we are a good fit
for one another.  I have to be able to feel their passion, know it is something honest, understand exactly what they want promoted and KNOW it is something I can do AND do excellently ..before I would want to commit to take on the project.

Most telemarketers will take on anything that comes their way.  Not so with me.
I turn more projects away for the above mentioned reasons.

What calling do I do the best at..depends highly on the bond I have with the client.
I am not any longer cold calling for Insurance or Financial Advisors..ONLY warm or hot calling.

I know that with my 43 yrs. exp., that I know what I do well and what I do not.

Be sure to consider having me write your scripts and perhaps hire/train your telemarketers.

Why am I the best on the planet?  I never give up.  I WILL find a way to get the job done..no matter how many times we have to tweak things..I will find a way..to get you results.
